Self-Care & Art Therapy for Youth - MMHYC (18 June 2021)

18 June 2021
Self-Care & Art Therapy for Youths
(Malaysia Mental Health Youth Conference 2021)
We are honoured to have been invited by Advocating Youth, a youth-led initiative under Felo Parlimen MY to be part of their Malaysia Mental Health Youth Conference 2021.
Our art psychotherapist, Buvenasvari Pragasam, spoke about how youths may be potentially impacted by the current pandemic and MCO restrictions, shared about art psychotherapy, what encompasses self-care and how art can be used as a form of self-care.
She thoroughly enjoyed the connection and enthusiasm with the youths in Malaysia and is heartened to know that many are now interested in mental health and organising such opportunities for everyone to benefit from.
Here are some of their takeaways from the session:
"Self-care is not equal to self-indulgence. Self-care requires effort and facing your situation instead of creating distractions."
"Having boundaries should be normalized."
"I gained a lot of info regarding art psychotherapy and the difference between self-care and self-indulgence!"
